• Handicrafts 

Want to share your talents in traditional and contemporary handicrafts? Share your talents and learn new ones in this group.  Crafters meet on the second Thursday of each month from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.  

• Japanese Calligraphy 

This is a new activity group.  Calligraphy is one of the important Japanese traditional arts.  We will learn the correct way to hold the brush and then we will learn one or two new characters.  The class will meet on the third Tuesday from 10:30-1:30.

• Needlework 

The Needlework group meets the first Friday in group member's homes from 10 to about 12:30 or 1.  This year we will try to have a quick project to work on together each month. Members are always welcome to bring their own projects as well.  Following the meetings, we'll have lunch at a local restaurant.

• Quilting

Back by popular demand, we are bringing quilting back to WTWC.  It will be very casual. You choose to bring existing projects and work on them.  We will meet on the first Wednesday from 10-12.

Cooking

• Taste of America 

Taste of America is an opportunity for Japanese members to learn American cooking.  We will meet in American member's homes.  There will be a "hands-on" demonstration and a chance to enjoy the meal we've prepared.  We will meet on the first Tuesday of the month.

• Quick and Easy Recipies for the Multitasked

In this fun group, you will learn a variety of easy-to-prepare recipes from around the world.  We plan to alternate Japanese and American sensei/hostesses and meet on the fourth Wednesday in private homes.

 Cultural

• Children’s Celebrations

Do you enjoy preparing for and celebrating special themed holiday gatherings of parents and children?  Then this is the group for you: Halloween, New Year’s and Easter parties.  A small fee is collected to cover costs.

• Cultural Exchange

Japanese and American members join together for lively discussions on a variety of topics.  We will meet the second Monday morning of each month at a member's home for coffee and conversation.  This is another great opportunity to practice your English!   

 Games

• Bridge

Meets on the second Wednesday of each month, 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Marco Polo restaurant in Vienna, VA.  A fee of $18.00 covers coffee, tea and a buffet lunch. There are usually 4 – 6 tables.

• Mah Jong 

Do you like the sound of clicking tiles and the challenge of playing different strategies? Join the play on the first Thursday of each month from 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.  All levels of players are invited.      

 Language

• Assistance in Japanese Language Studies (AINJLS)

AINJLS  members are in their 15th year assisting Great Falls Elementary School students in mastering the art of the Japanese language. AINJLS will meet on the Fourth Wednesday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon. 

• Contemporary Japanese

This group uses an intermediate level text. Reading comprehension and conversation are emphasized in a cozy and relaxed atmosphere.  They meet on the first Monday of the month from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon.

 Music

• Chorus

Do you love to sing?  Join this group on the 2nd and 4th Fridays at 10:00 a.m.  Have lots of fun and join us making beautiful music together.  

• Concerts

The group meets for Friday matinees at 1:30pm at the Kennedy Center. Members meet in the "Birds Lounge” during the intermission. 

The Outdoors

• Golf

Enthusiastic golfers please join us.  Golf will meet on the second Thursday and the fourth Monday each month September-November and April-June.

Social

• Evening Gourmet

The group meets several times over the year, usually on Saturdays, in the company of our significant others, spouses and friends.  We visit various restauraunts in the area and we have FUN!!!

• Line Dancing 

Come out and have a great time.  We meet on the first Monday in Virginia and the second Monday in Maryland.

• Mommy & Me
